Description : Print shows a Spitfire IX of No. 165 Squadron chasing down a German V-1 Doodle Bug over Southern England.
The V-1, each carrying a 1,000 lb warhead, was the original cruise missile, and hundreds were fired towards London from the continent in the days following D-Day.
The technique worked out by the RAF pilots was to catch up with the missile and tip it over with the fighter's wingtip, which would cause it to crash into the fields below.
